Why purify?
The Importance of Purification
in the Industrial Age

In this modern age, we are surrounded by an artificial world. Since the advent of the Chemical Revolution literally hundred of thousands of synthetic substances have been created. Most of these are derived from fossil fuels and are called petrochemicals. These chemicals, along with heavy metals, are mined from underground and so are called xenobiotics, or substances foreign to the natural ecosystem.

When petrochemicals are inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin, they accumulate in our bodies. They cause free radical damage and the oxidative stress that underlies nearly all modern diseases, the cancer epidemic, and even ageing itself. These manmade chemicals, along with other mined substances are not only causing most degenerative, chronic diseases, but they are also causing the environmental crisis.

The main problem with xenobiotics is that these substances are from outside the bounds of nature. Since they did not evolve within nature, they are not recognized by nature, and so cannot be broken down by nature's inherent recycling mechanisms. Instead they accumulate and disrupt natural processes, in the environment and in the human body. This is the reason for landfills, an island of plastic in the ocean, and the accumulation of carbon in the atmosphere causing global warming. Climate scientists meet every year to discuss this crisis at the International Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) and release an annual report. In this report it is predicted that if the planet is allowed to warm more than two degrees Celsius than catastrophic changes would result. These include an increase in natural disasters, as well as the death of 99% of coral reefs worldwide. They say that it would take nothing less than a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by the year 2030, and a 100% reduction by the year 2050 to stop global temperatures from rising to this degree. What they are calling for then, is a revolution in the way that we live. The only way to stop the environmental crisis, as well as untold suffering from modern diseases like Alzheiemers, autism, or cancer, is to stop buying fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as other products of extractivism. The only way to save ourselves and the planet is through nature - by making purification a lifestyle.
